Locations for flood survivors to go for help/services/donations

If you know of anyone with clothing needs, please email Carlisle Fire Dept genders, sizes, ages, etc. and any other pertinent information. We will DELIVER the clothing to the family that needs it. They can come pick it out themselves or we will assemble wardrobes and deliver it to them. Please include contact information that would make delivery possible. Donations come in and Happy Families go out! Carlisle Fire Department is in this for the long haul. We have furniture, kitchenware, clothing, food, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items and MORE. People are coming in and letting us know what they need. To keep this going we need two things...Families to know about us and more donations. Small appliances irons, microwave ovens, crock pots, hot plates, coffee makers. Please repost and share this message. We are open daily from 9-7 pm. To help members affected by recent storm damage, SEFCU is offering two new loan options. 
Post-Irene Disaster Loan up to $2,500
 If the damage to your property was minimal and your insurance covered most of the damage, with this loan you can borrow up to $2,500 for up to 24 months at a rate as low as 3% APR*. To be eligible you must provide your FEMA eligibility letter prior to loan closing.
 Post-Irene Disaster Loan up to $40,000
 If your financial needs are greater, SEFCU is offering another loan with a maximum borrowing limit of $40,000 with terms up to 60 months at a rate as low as 4% APR**. Borrowers must provide their FEMA eligibility letter prior to loan closing to be eligible.


DEC will be allowing folks to go in and have their creekbeds "fixed" in order to prevent further damage to their property. While state most likely won't reimbursh you if you do this, FEMA may. There are several locations in Middleburgh that are providing meals for those impacted by the flood. The following is a list of ingredients these chefs are looking for.
Bring these items to the Carlisle Fire Dept on Rte 20, and we will get them to Middleburgh. The fire department is open 9am-11am and 5pm-7pm or by chance. Call to be sure someone is here. 234-2134. ·

A local non-profit - Fields of Grace - is running a disaster relief program "Rooms of Hope" 100% of donations will be used toward rebuilding an entire room in homes of disaster struck families. All donations are appreciated but for perspective: $150 can sheetrock a standard room. $300 can sheetrock/insulate. $750 can sheetrock/insulate/carpet and additional funds beyond that can provide furniture such as a bed, dinning table, refrigerator, or toy chest.  http://fieldsofgraceoutreach.org/home

Volunteers, please note the Schoharie Volunteer Station at the Schoharie Reformed Church will be closed on Mondays. Please join us Tuesday - Saturday from 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Lunch will continue to be served every day from 11:30- 1:30, including Monday. Thank you!

If you have been affected by the floods (flood damage, lost job, lost benefits, anything flood related), you qualify for special food assistance. Head down to Workforce Solutions. Workforce Solutions 795 East Main Street, Suite 4, Cobleskill, NY 12043. Hours M-F 8:30-4:30. They stop signing people up Friday Sept 30th. 

In response to the recent storms that affected Schoharie County, the county is assessing the housing needs of the residents. An online survey has been created to help accommodate the needs of the residents affected by Irene. Please answer all questions to the best of your ability so that we can accomodate your needs. Schoharie County Emergency Services has given a number for people who have been displaced by the flood to call for assistance with housing, etc. 518-296-8607.
